One of the best things about staying at the Seaside Inn is that you do not have to walk far for anything. With Gooch’s Beach right outside your door and the charm of the Kennebunks all around you, a walk around town can be on the sand, a path through the woods or on a sidewalk heading to Dock Square.
Here are five of our favorite walks to enjoy during your time around Kennebunk Beach.
Take a walk on Gooch’s Beach
Start the day with your toes in the sand and the sound of the waves beside you. Whether you are out for a sunrise stroll, a midday beach walk or one last look at the ocean before dinner, Gooch’s Beach is the kind of place that makes you slow down in all the best ways. The Seaside Inn is the only hotel located directly on Gooch’s Beach.
Pro Tip: Walk to the end of Gooch’s Beach and, if you dare, enjoy the view from the stone jetty at the end.
Walk into Dock Square
From the Seaside Inn, you can head toward Dock Square for a little shopping, dining, ice cream and classic Kennebunkport wandering. Browse the boutiques, pop into galleries, grab a bite, and enjoy the lively little village atmosphere that makes the Kennebunks so special. It’s an easy 15-20 minute stroll from the Seaside Inn down a side-walk along Beach Avenue.
Pro Tip: Stop by Maine Art Gallery on your way and enjoy the many whimsical wind sculptures spinning away!
Explore Ocean Avenue
Take a scenic drive, bike ride or walk along Ocean Avenue for some of the most beautiful coastal views in the area. Along the way, you will find ocean vistas, St. Ann’s Church, Walker’s Point and plenty of photo-worthy places to pause and take it all in. Be sure to pause and catch a glimpse of the Seaside Inn across the Kennebunk River!
Pro Tip: Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy on the grounds of St. Ann’s Church

For a quieter walk close to the Seaside Inn, make your way to the Franciscan Monastery. Tucked just off Beach Avenue, the monastery grounds offer a peaceful place to stroll beneath the trees, pause by the river and enjoy a different side of the Kennebunks. It is a lovely walk when you want something calm, reflective and close by.
Pro Tip: Bring your camera. Between the gardens, pathways and views of the Kennebunk River, this is one of those hidden-in-plain-sight spots that feels extra special.

The Bridle Path is another favorite nearby walk, offering a peaceful route along the river with lovely views and a little bit of quiet away from the bustle. It is a great choice for guests who want to stretch their legs, enjoy some fresh air and take in the natural beauty of the area without having to travel far from the inn.
Pro Tip: Go in the morning or early evening for softer light, cooler air and a slower, quieter feel.
Whether you spend your day beach walking, shopping, sightseeing or simply sitting by the water, the best part is knowing you can come home to the Seaside Inn — where the ocean is always waiting right outside your door.
